The Igulu Foundation was founded by Igulu Sinani, born and raised in Bujagali village as a child of a single mother. His childhood was marked by hardship, uncertainty, and limited access to basic needs, but his life changed through the generosity of education sponsors who invested in his future. In 2018, he chose to return that investment to his community, saving part of his upkeep and working odd jobs to support local children with simple items like pens, books, pencils, and rulers. What started with five children has grown into a multi-sector foundation serving hundreds of lives. “Igulu” is a Lusoga word meaning “Heaven”, in Spanish “Cielo”, in Italian, “Paradiso”, and in Portuguese “Paraíso” reflecting our desire to bring a piece of heaven to the Bujagali community.
